Martin the Warrior is the second book in the Red wall series though I haven’t cracked it open yet I know what it’s about ( I watched the movie).
- Martin a Tall mouse of about 14 seasons has been enslaved but the evil Rat or whatever it is, Badrange and is now a slave and forced building his monstrous fort Marshank. He is fighting against the tyrant with all his might but to no avail! He cannot wriggle out from this stone pawed rulers grasp and after many years of being a thorn in Badranges side he is put out as food for the birds. But then when all hope is lost he is saved by a beautiful mouse made who drives the birds, who are about to feed of his flesh, away and saves Martins life. He is nurtured back to life by this Rose of Noonvail and her tribe but soon find out that Roses little brother is enslaved by the evil Badrange and goes back to save him. So fallow a daring fight between Badrange and This Martin the Warrior. It rages back and forth with Martin and his band slowly gaining the upper hand. In the last battle that is fought between the two sides there is the last deciding scrimmage between the leaders, but Martin is slowly losing and the evil Badrange seems to be winning. In a desperate attempt to save Martin and his cause (to free all the creatures under Badranges rule and ride the earth of his scum for ever) Martins beloved Rose of Noon Vail gives her life in the battle. The story ends in a dramatic close of Rose’s Funeral and Martins sworn oath never to love again.
- It’s a great story; I love the tragically romantic ones. Like the Titanic and Guinevere and Lancelot or Romeo and Juliet. They are all so tragic one will to die for love and the other lives ever on pining away for their lost loved one. Though most of this story isn’t that tragic ending lots of it is spent building the love story to that dramatic end. It’s amazing.
